City of Wolverhampton Council: dog rules
Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places
Rules added
- Dogs on a lead beside the ring road and 10 other A roads, within 100 metres of schools, in council cemeteries, and when asked.
- No dogs on listed tennis courts and play areas, or in fountains, ponds and splash pads.
Renewal approved by cabinet in September 2026. It adds a rule that dogs in public must wear an ID tag with the owner's details, subject to a six-week consultation.
Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
