Neath Port Talbot Council: dog rules

Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

We've only partly added this council's dog rules. Check the source for the full order.

Partly added

Aberavon: no dogs on the main beach 1 May to 30 September (about half the beach stays dog-friendly), and dogs on a lead on the promenade in summer. Fixed penalty up to £75.
Pick up after your dog and follow signs in parks and play areas.

Beach order from 6 March 2024 for three years. A 2026 review proposed keeping the beach ban and possibly a year-round promenade lead rule.

Source: Neath Port Talbot Council. Checked October 2026.

Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
