Lambeth Council: dog rules

Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

We've only partly added this council's dog rules. Check the source for the full order.

Partly added

  • Draft order: no more than four dogs per person, and no more than two off the lead at once (more with a council licence).
  • No dogs in play areas, games courts, pitches, tennis courts, ponds and wet play areas, fenced picnic areas, allotments, community gardens, or estate play areas.
  • Dogs on a lead on council housing land (except fenced dog exercise areas), café seating areas and some squares, gardens and churchyards. Pick up. £100 fixed penalty (£80 if paid early).

From the 2023 draft order; check signs to confirm it is in force.

Source: Lambeth Council. Checked October 2026.

Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
