Chesterfield Borough Council: dog rules
Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places
Rules added
- All year, dogs on a lead in Boythorpe, Brimington, Spital and Staveley cemeteries and the crematorium, on the lake paths at Holmebrook Valley Park, McGregors Pond, Poolsbrook Country Park and Ringwood Park, and in parts of Eastwood Park.
- 1 March to 31 July: dogs on a lead at Brearley Wetlands and Norbriggs Flash nature reserves.
- No dogs in 44 listed play areas, skate parks, games courts and sports pitches, including Queen's Park play areas and cricket pitch. Some pitch bans are September to May only.
- Pick up on all public land (no bag is no excuse). Put your dog on a lead if an officer asks. £100 fixed penalty.
Dog Control order from 20 August 2024, for three years.
Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
